School Development Plan

At Ty Sign primary School, we are committed to continuous improvement and providing the very best education for every child. Our School Development journey is guided by a shared vision for improvement, wellbeing, and lifelong learning.

Each year, we carefully reflect on our progress and set clear priorities to help our pupils, staff, and community grow together. Our School Development Plan (SDP) outlines the key areas we are focusing on to strengthen teaching and learning, enhance pupil wellbeing, and build on the exciting opportunities offered by the Curriculum for Wales.

We believe that effective school development is a partnership. By working closely with pupils, parents, governors, and the wider community, we ensure that every child at Ty Sign is supported to achieve their full potential, now and for the future.

This academic year, 2026 - 2027, we have three main improvement areas within our SDP:

1. Strengthen leadership and self-evaluation at all levels to ensure that evidence-informed decision making, professional learning and effective attendance strategies lead to sustained improvements in provision and pupil outcomes. 

2. Improve pupils’ reading outcomes by developing a consistent, progressive and evidence-informed whole-school approach to the teaching and assessment of reading, from pre-phonics and systematic synthetic phonics through to fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. 

3. Develop a clear understanding of standards, progression and provision in mathematics and numeracy through focused enquiry and robust baseline assessment, identifying strengths, inconsistencies and priorities for whole-school improvement.
